Eyescanner, which is developing an AI based software to detect if people are under the influence of drugs, will be Optimizer Invest’s next venture.

After an intensive year when Optimizer Invest has started three companies as well as worked intensively with its existing fast-growing portfolio companies, the time is now right to invest in external startups again. The next company to be added to the holding portfolio is the Swedish AI software company Eyescanner. Optimizer Invest is investing SEK 2.5 million in the company in a financing round that includes a total of SEK 5 million.

Eyescanner was founded in 2019 by two female entrepreneurs, Stefanie Najafi and Jenny Johansson, who have both been active in the police service. They realized that there was a strong need for a digital drug test method that could be implemented and used in different types of contexts. The technology is based on research and will result in a software that can be integrated into various types of hardware, such as a mobile phone or a vehicle. A first version of the software is expected to be ready by end of 2021/beginning of 2022.

The software will ultimately be used by law enforcement agencies, companies that drug test their staff, treatment homes and in vehicles to detect drug-affected drivers.
